Mythic Legions - Malynna (Evil Lyn) - Power-Con Exc - Four Horsemen 2019
One of my favorite annual traditions is waiting to see which two Masters of the Universe characters will be represented as homage figures in the Four Horsemen Mythic Legions line. For the past several years these have been presented as Power-Con exclusives and they are a brilliant merging of two aesthetics. While MOTU has always been a swords-and-sorcery property, it was largely colorful and cartoony. Meanwhile the Mythic Legions has been gritty and dark. With Four Horsemen Studios' obvious love for MOTU well established, this homage line is a well-thought-out and perfectly executed treat to collectors. Malynna is the first female in the sub-line representing the dark sorceress Evil-Lyn. She is made using pieces of the Advent of Decay female figures, notable the Vampire army builder, but repainted in her signature bright yellow and blue colors. I've owned her since the day she was released, but just opened her this week and I'm really impressed. Let's check out Malynna below!

There were also two Raven repaints as Zoar and Screech, but I believe these were single-edition figures for a charity auction.
Malynna comes with shoulder armor, an alternate armored head, a ponytail, a longsword (which has a noticeably greenish hue compared to the other blue accessories), a dagger with sheath, a brown belt that can hold the dagger or longsword, a long staff with separate top ornamentation, and two silver pieces that act as connectors for various add-on purchases (like wings).
She also comes with a navy blue cloak that can be worn as a waistcoat or a cape.
Here is the cloak worn as a waistcoat. It connects around the main waist peg under her fuzzy shorts.
And here is the cloak worn as a cape, it can be fastened to her back using the pegs from the shoulder armor.
As one of the last remaining Uubyr in existence, Malynna has sought refuge in the dark corners of Alkyrium where she seeks to refine her dark magical abilities into a devastating and deadly weapon. An Ancient mixture of Orc and Vampire bloodlines, the Uubyr have been shunned and despised despite their immense inherent magical potential. Under the protection of Malachi Cinderhorn and his Shadow Elves, Malynna the Malevolent has sworn to return the Soul Spiller to Lucretia and the Vampire Kingdom.
I actually prefer this figure without the white ponytail. Although Evil-Lyn is known for having a white buzzcut under her helmet, it's rarely seen. And something about the prominent white ponytail distracts from the overall Evil-Lyn palette for me.
My one critique about this figure is that her headpiece didn't have any light blue details. I tried to add some along the ridges for this next pic. I'm not super happy with the results, but I now know I definitely want blue on her head somewhere, so I will be attempting this again in a different pattern.
